Kupalua

Composer, producer and performer born in Brazil, investigating power dynamics between and within bodies, Kupalua problematizes gender expectations and the institutionalization of human relations.

Manipulating sounds that come from the deepest places, such as the cervix or the abysses of the ocean, Kupalua creates immersions that transcend sound, the dramaturgy of her shows invites us to get closer, Kupalua is a physical experience, sound waves trespass your body and voices whisper to your bones other notions of darkness, womanhood, alien and terrain possibilities.

Her solo concert was performed in stages such as the Novas Frequências festival (Brazil), Copenhagen Contemporary (Denmark), Muziekgebouw (Amsterdam, Netherlands), Fusion Festival (Germany), Mayhem invited by Alice (Copenhagen, Denmark), Sounds of Stockholm festival (Sweden), Kantine am Berghain (Germany), Athens Queer Performance festival (Greece), Inkonst (Malmo, Sweden), Arsenic – Centre d’art scénique contemporain (Switzerland) . At Kampnagel International Summer Festival in Hamburg, Germany, her work intersected with discussions about the future of technology and radical care at the conference “The Future of Code Politics.”

Kupalua studied electronic composition at the Royal Danish Conservatory, DIEM, in Denmark.
